OJBG’s Wacky Weekend Walk-Ins

1.      The Diner (Adams Morgan)

If you’re looking for dinner and a show, figuratively speaking, The Diner in Adams Morgan is the ideal grub hub for after your Friday night out. The diner never sleeps. It’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and its prices spare your pockets. As well, if you’re night wasn’t as entertaining as you had hoped, Adams Morgan never fails to provide the most colorful, rowdy, and interesting crowds in the wee hours of the night…or the crack of dawn.

*Tip: The Chocolate Brownie Milkshake is orgasmic. Just saying.

2.  Arlington Cinema N Drafthouse (Arlington)

For those of you who have kissed your back-to-school days long goodbye and flaunt an over 21 license, get yourself over to the Arlington Cinema N Drafthouse for a movie…with a beer…and a pizza if you want….at your seat. Did I mention that movie tickets only cost $6? The Drafthouse not only headlines as a movie theater, but also provides its moviegoers with a full menu and bar served tableside.  PLUS, there are also live performances some nights in addition to the film screenings.

*Tip: Mondays are $1 movie ticket nights. Cheap date anyone?

 3.      Biergartenhaus (Atlas)

It’s time to say goodbye to summer and Guten Tag to Oktoberfest! Check out the best biergarten Washington, D.C. has to offer. Plus, you can elect to drink your beer out of a glass boot. Nothing says cool like a glass boot.

*Tip: This place is always hoppin’ so plan ahead and give yourself enough time if you run into crowds.

 4.   Your stoop

Short on cash? Don’t feel like leaving the house? Sit on your stoop. Seriously, it’s probably one of the most entertaining activities you can do without spending a dime. Call up a bunch of pals and invite them to sit on your stoop for some drinks, chitchatting, and people watching. I promise you’ll have a hysterical night.

*Tip: As each person walks by, team up with your pals and figure out the person’s life story and where they are going. The scenarios are endless.

The First Issue of Our ‘Zine: “The JUICE” !

Hello again from OJBG!

We’ve just finished putting together the first edition of The Juice, an eZine by Orange Juice in Bishop’s Garden, and it’s available on the OJBG Home Page.

BUT… since you’re one of our favorites :) we’ve attached The Juice eZine for you to download or print.

In case you don’t know the history of ‘zines, here’s a lil’ blurb (see Wiki for more):

A zine (an abbreviation of the word fanzine, or magazine; pronounced /ˈziːn/ “zeen”) is usually any self-published work of minority interest usually reproduced via photocopier on a variety of colored paper stock.
They’re generally written in a variety of formats, from computer-printed text to comics to handwritten text. Small circulation zines are often not explicitly copyrighted and there is a strong belief among many zine creators that the material within should be freely distributed. In recent years a number of photocopied zines have risen to prominence or professional status and have found wide bookstore and online distribution.

Notable among these are Giant Robot, Dazed & Confused, Bust, Bitch (magazine) and Maximum RocknRoll.

Enjoy! Also, we’d love feedback and suggestions for the kinds of topics you’d like to see.

Best,
All of us at OJBG

You Better Appreciate Today

You better appreciate today, because tomorrow is just going to be worse…

So here’s the thing.  You have freedom of choice.  BUT not freedom from consequence.  I think that is the #1 lesson I learned as a teenager.  What makes summer feel so inconsequential and allows the freedom to live in the moment? Is it the sun or the relaxed attitude or the fact that you really don’t HAVE to be anywhere the next morning?  Well– guess what– if you do live in the moment–  prepare to suffer! Awesome. um, NO.

Tomorrow is going to be worse…!

And what about Colin?? This isn’t just standard older brother over-protective crap. Colin has been cold and downright mean– and we’re not talking about just one day.  Something is up.  What is bothering him?  He isn’t normally like this.  He and Kris used to be so close.  But these days– well, who knows.

Is Kris trying to get through to him or has the summer haze (& a desire for nigiri) just clouded her thoughts

…watch episode 6 and you can be the judge.

Episode 6 is UP!

The sixth episode of “Orange Juice” is up on the official OJ page, for your viewing pleasure.

A brief synopsis:   What is eating Colin Mitchell?   Kris’ step-brother just hasn’t been the same since they moved here. She tries to understand, but he doesn’t let her in, he just rags on her… so she steals his car instead.  Illegal sushi run!  Oh and did I mention there are togas?  Enjoy, and stay tuned.
